Interview: Alan Zahra (15th February 2007)

Hi Alan! First of all thanks for accepting my interview!

Alan you've been playing for Rabat since your early ages. Can you please tell us when your career started at the Rabat Nursery and do you remember some good moments from your childhood as a footballer?
I started at the age of 7 years with Rabat Depiro and I am very proud that I made this step. One of the moments that I really remember from the nusery was when we player in the U/11 Mosta tournament that we had won and I was also awarded as the best player of the tournament and also at the age of 12 I took the top scorer of the Rabat tournament.



Alan despite still at a young age you also had the opportunity to play in the First Division five years ago mainly as a regular player. Do you think that football in this division is very different compared to the Second and Third Divisions?
My first match with the first team was against Balzan Y. five years ago when we lost 2-1. I came on as a substitute and just after five minutes I scored. I think there is a good difference between the First Division and the Second / Third becauce of the quality of some players and also the pitch we play on.

Alan in season 2002/03 Rabat played against Xghajra T. Surely this is a match that you will remember for a long period taking in consideration that Rabat won 4-0 and all goals were scored from you. What can you tell us about this match?
After one season and a half playing for the senior team this was my first game that I played with the starting eleven. Basically I really don't know how to explain my feelings for that day. Hopefully I will be able to score four goals every game as this is not so normal for a football match :) but considering that match overall I think that everything went well for me and certainly I am proud of it.

Last year you had won your first honour with Rabat after gaining promotion from the Third to the Second Division. What are your views about last season and what does this honour mean for you?
Last years promotion with the first team was a good achievment for me as it was very difficult for us to get promoted as other teams made it very hard for us to get promoted. Hopefully this season we will finish on a good note like last season.

Currently the Magpies are occupying the 4th place with a game in hand. What are your views about the season so far and do you think that we still have got the chance to gain promotion once again?
Like I told you before the players, coach, comittee and myself have got one target that is to get the team promoted from the Second Division. We still have to face very good teams but with good concentration and good football I believe we can make it once again.
