Interview: Adam Smeir

Rabat2.cjb.net has decided to meet and interview current Third division top-scorer, Adam Smeir.

At what age did you start your football career (nursery) and when was your debut for Rabat?

I started when i was about 7. My uncle took me the first time to the training grounds cause he wanted me to play for Rabat. My debut was against Mqabba in the last match of season 2002/03 and we won 4-1.

Apart from Rabat fighting for Promotion this season another aspect that is surely passing through your mind is the fact that you are currently leading the top scorers list of the third division. What are your comments about this?

The most important thing is that we achieve our main target which is the promotion because the club and the players don't deserve to be in the 3rd division.
About topping the top scorer list i think that everybody likes to win a personal award for a hard and fought season.

This year Rabat are being managed by Mr. Joe Gerada which was new to everyone at Rabat in the beginning of the season. What do you think about this coach?

Mr. Joe Gerada has integrated well with the Rabat players and committee and the results shows so I give full credit to our coach. I think we needed a Maltese coach to take charge. I would like to thank all the coaches since I was a child because I have learned a lot from them.

Three games to finish the season. Rabat need three wins to secure an automatic promotion. Do you think this is possible?

Of course it's possible!! It's very difficult because we need full points, but it's not impossible.

Adam, you had also the opportunity to represent the National Team in your childhood. Any memories from this experience?

It was a nice experience but I still think that the M.F.A isn't taking the job seriously in selecting it's players especially in the youths. I see some players that have got good potential even in the 3rd division and nobody is taking notice of this. I think that every player with good potential should be given a try because after all it's our national team.

Which is your biggest dream, in football and also in your private life?

Right now I am focused in winning the promotion but in the future I would like to win a mayor honour. My private life is my PRIVATE LIFE!!

Any other comments you'd like to add?

I would like to thank the coach, players, comitee and the supporters for this wonderful season and you as well cause you are making a lot for Rabat with this site.
Thank you Etienne. Keep it up!
