In yesterday's tournament the Magpies once again dissapointed as they were first beaten by second division side Melita AFC 2-0 but in the second match Rabat defeated Pembroke 1-0 thanks to goal from striker Kayne Said. Said is infact the first player to score a goal for Rabat from four friendlies.

Prolific striker Adrian Mifsud has returned to Rabat after a nine year spell in the Premier Division. He joins the Magpies on loan from Floriana FC. This is the club's second purchase of the season after last week's signing of Glen Magri from Naxxar Lions. Despite at the age of 33, Mifsud will still be considered as a dangerous striker for the First Division taking into account that he scored around 123 goals in Malta' top division. Mifsud also appeared 15 times for Malta's National Team.

Rabat Ajax have loaned 20 year old midfielder Glen Magri from Naxxar Lions for one year. Despite still at the tender age of 20 Magri has already had a one year spell in the Premier Division with Msida. Magri has already played his first friendly match for the Magpies last week against Qormi. On behalf of all the Rabat Supporters I would like to welcome Glen to our club and wish him all the best for the upcoming season.

Rabat played there first friendly match of the season against Premier League side Qormi FC. Qormi won 4-0. They were too dominant for the Rabat side who were just playing there first friendly match against the four played by Qormi. Formation: Azzopardi, Bezzina, Tonna, Zahra, Smeir, Falzon, Micallef M, Schembri, Muscat, Micallef K (cpt). Subs used: Borg, Caruana, Ciantar, Magri, Said, Galea, Vassallo.

The Magpies were drawn in Group 1 in the Maltco Lotteries First Division knock out. Rabat will meet Pieta H', Mqabba, Vittoriosa S. and Dingli S. The group matches will take place between 13th September and 12th October. Two teams qualify from each group and therefore they will play in the semi-finals which will then be held in May.

Josef Tonna was yesterday named as the MFA Second Division Player of the Year 2007/08. This was confirmed yesterday as all teams voted for the Player of the Year. Tonna was having a good competition for the first place from San Gwann's midfielder Roberto Brincat who then finished second. Meanwhile Rabat's striker Adam Smeir ended second in the top scorers list with 12 goals.

Rabat Ajax have confirmed coach Joe Gerada for another season. This will be Gerada's fourth consecutive season with the Magpies gaining them to an impressive two promotions in three seasons.

Rabat Ajax have confirmed all committee posts for season 2008/09. In fact there were some changes as Dr. Michael Sciriha is the new club's President while Amadeo Zammit will occupy the vice-president post. Mario Grima keeps his Secretary position while Etienne Cachia will be his assistant. Brian Borg is the new Financial Secretary after replacing Paul Bugeja. Glen Joseph Micallef is the PRO of the club and also the assistant Financial Secretary. Andrew Cachia will occupy the Kit Manager job and Victor Sammut is the person responsible for the club premises and the ground maintenance.

Rabat ended another week full of celebrations. On Tuesday the Rabat players went on to sing in their new CD which was then published last Sunday. On Wednesday a selection from past players played against Rabat Ajax and on Sunday 1st June a marc was played by Rabat's two main band club. Now a BBQ will be held on the 13th June @ the Crown Plaza in Bugibba.

Rabat Ajax were promoted to the First Division after beating Balzan Youths in the promotion decider by 3-0 result. Adam Smeir surely had one of his best games as he scored a brace for the Magpies while Poalo Ciantar added another third goal. Well Done Boys!!! [ Match Report ]

Rabat Ajax sealed an important 2-0 win over Naxxar Lions to finish first place with another two teams; San Gwann and Balzan Y. San Gwann ended the season as champions while Rabat and Balzan Y will need to play a promotion decider. The date for the decider is still to be confirmed hopefully by Monday evening. Rabat Ajax performed an excellent second half to beat Birzebbuga 5-1. In fact the first half ended 1-1 with Emmanuel Muscat opening the score for Rabat. A good comeback in the second half saw the Magpies scoring four goals thanks to Christopher Schembri, Emmanuel Muscat who notched a brace with this goal, Kayne Said and finally Jonathan Bezzina. The Magpies took the lead in the first half thanks to Clint Micallef while St. Venera drew matters in the final minutes of the match thanks to Dylan Mercieca. Rabat Ajax are sole leaders of the Second Division after a 3-1 win over Mgarr United. Rabat took full advantage as Balzan were defeated by Melita. Mgarr went 1-0 up till the first 45 minutes but a good comeback from the Magpies in the second half saw them scoring three goals and taking all three points. [ Match Report ]

Rabat Ajax were knock out from the Quick Keno Semi-Final competition after being beaten by Melita FC 1-0 thanks to a second half strike from Julian Galea. Just minutes before this goal Rabat had an opportunity to go in front as Adam Smeir saw his penalty kick saved by Sapiano. Yesterday evening the quick-keno Second & Third Division Knock-Out semi final's were drawn. Rabat will be meeting Melita FC on Sunday 23rd March 2008. Just one week before, on Saturday 15th March both teams will meet in a BOV Second Division fixture. In the other semi-final holders Balzan Youths will be playing Mgarr United.

The Magpies kept with there good form as they won 3-0 against Sirens FC who currently occupy the last place in the 2nd Division. Rabat kept the first place but all top teams registered a win over the weekend. Rabat's direct clash with San Gwann ended in a 1-1 draw. This draw leaves the Magpies second placed five points above San Gwann, while Balzan Y stayed first as they collected all three points after a 3-2 win over Zurrieq FC. San Gwann took the lead after being awarded a dubious penalty while Jonathan Bezzina made it 1-1 ten minutes from the end. Rabat responded with some better play during the second half but this was not enough to gain some points from this encounter. Ten men Rabat Ajax progressed to the Quater Final stage in the Quick Keno knock out competition after a 1-1 draw with Birzebbugia. The south-siders opened the score but Clint Micallef equalised just before the break. Poalo Ciantar was sent off in the 47th minute but the Magpies were still strong enough to hold on to a draw which gave them the qualification.

The Rabat Ajax U/19 started their league commitments with a 1-1 draw against Balzan Y. Dalton Wingfield scored for Rabat in the first half. Meanwhile the U/14's also played their first league match and collected their first three points of the season by beating San Gwann 2-0 in Section A.

Two goals in each half were enough to give Rabat a 2-1 win over Gzira Utd in the quick-keno Knock-Out. Clint Micallef and Dylan Falzon scored both goals for the Magpies. Rabat now top Group 3 with six points followed by B’Bugia with four points. Both teams play each other next Tuesday 18th September at 20:00 hrs. Rabat Ajax started their knock-out programme with a 4-1 win over Fgura Utd. The Magpies looked in good shape after a shaky start in their pre-season outings. Adam Smeir opened the score for Rabat and Alan Zahra made it 2-0. Fgura scored to make it 2-1 after the break but an auto-goal and a goal from debutant Clint Micallef sealed a 4-1 win for Rabat. Tyron Spiteri and Clint Micallef will be playing for Rabat Ajax for this season after agreements have been reached for a one year loan. Goalkeeper Spiteri joins from Attard FC while Micallef re-joins Rabat from Birkirkara after playing for the last eight seasons in the Premier League including one year with the Magpies.

Cachia replaces Mr. Carmelo Camilleri who has been coaching this team for the past seven years. Rabat faced an easy task today as they won 2-0 against Zebbug who will now have to play in the relegation play-off. The Rabat Depiro Under 16 team were promoted to Section B after playing their 14th match of the season which saw them beat Ghaxaq FC 10 - 0. The Rabat scorers were: Rodrick Vassallo (4), Dalton Wingfield, David Azzopardi, Terence Azzopardi, Sandro Galea, Andrea Vassallo, Ryan Gauci. With four matches to go Rabat Depiro won 13 out of their 14 matches played so far.

Tomorrow Rabat Ajax will meet Mellieha FC at the Centenary Stadium. This match is another important game for the promotion battle as the Magpies are currently second just one point above Mellieha FC. In the first round the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Rabat are expected to be in full strength for this encounter.

Rabat Ajax will meet rivals Dingli Swallows tomorrow at the Centenary Stadium at 14:00hrs. This match is expected to be a good battle between the two teams as Dingli S. are currently leading the BOV Second Division while the Magpies follow in the second place. Coach Joe Gerada is expected to have all his players for disposal for tomorrow's encounter and also the return of striker Darren Galea should be a boost for the Rabat side after serving his 8-month suspension.

The Magpies will play their second match from the second round tomorrow against St. Venera. The match will kick off at 20:00 hrs. Rabat will be lacking the service of the suspended Josef Tonna while St. Venera have got four players suspended for tomorrow's encounter. Dingli S.are leading the Second Division with 31 pts followed by Mellieha with 27, Lija 25, Balzan 24 and Rabat with 21 points. Rabat secured their sixth win of the season thanks to a 2-1 win over Gozo FC. Gozo were infront until the end of the first half but a good comeback from the Magpies gave them three important points. Josef Tonna and Jonathan Bezzina scored for Rabat and in the final two minutes Tonna was sent off after receiving his second card of the match. The Under 19's once again were unlucky to suffer another defeat against Qormi 3-2. Rabat's scorers were Charlo Ciantar and Paul Falzon. Falzon also had a good attempt at goal that hit the post and also Adam Wingfield failed to score from the penalty spot. Now they meet St. Patrick's on the 3rd February.

Rabat Ajax won there first match of the season thanks to a 3-1 win over Balzan Youths. Balzan took the lead in the first half but in the second half goals from Chris Muscat, Kayne Said and Adam Smeir turned the result in favour of the Magpies.

Rabat will play there fourth match of the season and will be looking forward to get there first three points of the season when they meet Balzan Youths who have collected two wins from a total of three matches. Rabat should be in full strength for this encounter as Goalkeeper Jonathan Azzopardi will return after serving his suspension. The Rabat Ajax Youth Team continued there good form in the Youth Section B league after beating leaders Attard FC. This was thanks to a goal scored by Adam Wingfield who notched his first goal of the season. Under the guidance of Mr. Carmelo Camilleri the Youth team will now play St. George's on the 11th November, a team who have conceded three consecutive defeats.

In fact the Magpies managed to gain full points from the Group 7 which was formed by three teams: Rabat, Qrendi & Kalkara. Today Rabat won there second match thanks to a 5-0 win over Kalkara. Rabat played there last friendly of the pre-season. This time the Magpies played against a third division side, Fgura FC. Rabat were the better side once against through out the 90 mins. Infact Rabat took an early lead thanks to Adam Smeir. On the half-hour, Kayne Said ended a good move from Smeir to make it 2-0. Just after the begining of the second half Fgura scored to make it 2-1. Rabat took full control of the last 30 mins and thanks to a penalty from Chris Muscat and another goal by Kayne Said the match ended in a 4-1 win for the Magpies. The Squad for Season 2006/07 looks now ready. In fact Rabat made just one addition to the team of last season. Josef Tonna returned for Rabat after serving a one year loan with Tarxien Rainbows. Michael Micallef re-joined Tarxien for another one year loan. William Borg also extended his loan with Mellieha SC for another season. Goalkeeper George Edwards was also loaned out to a Third Division team.

The Rabat Ajax Youth team is taking part in the Mosta Pre-Season Tournament which is held every year. Rabat started there commitments last Sunday when they drew with St. Patrick's 1-1. Rabat took the lead earlier in the first half when Edward Ciantar finished of a good pass from Nigel Cortis. Warren Cucciardi scored for St. Patrick's in the last minute to save a point for the Zabbar side. Rabat will now meet Pieta' H tomorrow at the Mosta Ground at 18:00. Once again Rabat looked very sharpe and will now be looking to play there first competitive match which will be against Qrendi FC in the Knock-Out Competition. The Quick-Keno Second & Third Division Knock-out draws were held today at the Centenary Hall, Ta' Qali. In all 8 groups were drawn with 30 teams taking part. Rabat Ajax have been drawn in Group 7 and will meet Kalkara and Qrendi FC. These Preliminary matches will be played between Sunday 3rd September and Thursday 21st September. The winners of each group will reach the quater-final stage.

Rabat Ajax made a quick return to the Second Division after beating off all the teams in the play-off stage. After finishing third in the Bov Third Division, Rabat managed to secure promotion by winning the Play-Off league. In there last outing, in front the biggest crowd in many years Rabat bet Gzira 4-1. The Magpies had to do without Captain Keith Micallef and Super 1 Third Division Player of the Year Jonathan Bezzina who both are abroad on honeymoons. The Rabat scorers were Joseph Caruana, Darren Galea and a double by Adam Smeir.

A 91st minute goal by Darren Galea gave Rabat Ajax another three important points in there fight for promotion in the II/III Division Play-offs against Sirens. In the other match, Gzira kept the pressure on the Magpies after securing a important win against St. Lucia. Now the fight is between Rabat and Gzira who meet eachother next Sunday at 1630hrs at the Centenary Stadium. A win or draw for the Rabat will see them playing Second Division football next season, but losing to Gzira, Rabat will be playing for another season in the Third Division.

Rabat Ajax started there play-offs campaign on a very good note as they registered three important points after beating St. Lucia 1-0. In the other match, Gzira and Sirens shared a 0-0 result. Rabat will now meet Sirens next Thursday at 1800 hrs at the centenary stadium. If Rabat beat Sirens and Gzira draw or lose against St. Lucia, the Magpies will win the play-offs and therefore will be promoted to the Second Division. After scoring his 15th goal of the season against Pembroke, Rabat Ajax striker Adam Smeir has written down his name in the Rabat history after reaching Paul Zammit an ex-Rabat striker in the 1990's who was holding the record for the Highest all Division Scorer for the Magpies with 15 goals in season 1994/95. Smeir will be hoping to skip this record as Rabat still have got three games to be played. Meanwhile Rabat will now meet St. Lucia next Sunday 1630hrs in there first encounter from the II/III Division Play-Offs.

The Magpies played there last match of the season and drew against St. Lucia 1-1. Coach Joe Gerada made alot of changes in the first team. In fact not less than 5 new players were included in the starting line up. Rabat took the lead in the first half, but St. Lucia managed to equalise in the second half thanks to a goal by substitue Kurt Grima. Rabat will now meet St. Lucia , Sirens and Gudja/Gzira in the play-offs.

Last Thursday, Rabat Ajax secured the third place with one match to be played. Thanks to a 2-1 win over Pembroke, the Magpies can now start there playoffs with a three point advantage. In the playoffs Rabat will now meet St. Lucia, Sirens and the other team from the Second Division which is yet to be confirmed next weekend. Goals from Adam Smeir and substitue Darren Galea cancelled Pembroke's 1-0 lead in the second half. Rabat will now meet St. Lucia in the last match of the season next Sunday.

Yesterday Rabat Ajax suffered there second defeat of the season to leaders St. Venera. The highlightof the match was referee Tristan Farrugia, who amazingly cancelled an early opener for Rabat and alsoawarded a controversial penalty which gave St. Venera the three points.

Rabat Ajax registered another important win against Zurrieq 1-0. The battle for promotion looks very complicated as St.Venera, B’Bugia and the Magpies are not missing any points. Zurrieq was one of the toughest games of the season for Rabat, but thanks to a goal by Adam Smeir in the 78th minute Rabat took another three important points. Manuel Muscat was the only absence for Rabat after suffering an injury and his place was taken by Chris Schembri.

Rabat Ajax registered there ninth win of the season thanks to a 4-0 win over Luqa SA. Rabat’s best player was once again striker Adam Smeir who scored twice for Rabat. The other scorers were Kayne Said and Darren Galea. Chris Schembri made his return for the Magpies after a long term injury which left him sidelined for one year. Now Rabat lie third placed just one point under Birzebbugia.

Rabat returned to victory after there conceding there first defeat to Kalkara United. The Magpies won 6-0 against The Magpies won 6-0 against Zejtun C. Chris Muscat was the only change in Rabat's starting line-up who started instead of Kayne Said. Rabat now look forward to meet Luqa SA on the 17th March

Kalkara United gave Rabat there first defeat of the season by beating them 2-1. Kalkara took the lead with 10-men on the field in the 75th minute and Alan Zahra cancelled Brignone's opener. Kalkara scored again to seal there second win of the season and Rabat's first defeat.

Rabat Ajax will now meet Kalkara Utd next Sunday at the Centenary Stadium Ta' Qali. Chris Muscat will be missing the match due to suspension, while Jonathan Bezzina is still not 100% fit for next Sunday and may be dropped from the starting eleven. Kalkara are occupying the 13th place with 6 points from nine matches and last week they drew with Mgarr Utd 1-1. A possible treat for the Rabat defence will be veteran striker Anthony Brignone.

29th January 2006

A goal by substitute Chris Muscat gave Rabat three important points after beating rivals Sirens FC. Once again Rabat lead the third division with 23 points followed by St. Venera with 22 points and a game in hand. Kayne Said was the only replacement in Joe Gerada's team as he replaced Darren Galea who was ruled out due to injury. Chris Muscat came on as a substitute (65th minute) and he scored the all important goal following an Alan Zahra corner. Muscat was then sent off.

15th January 2006

Rabat Ajax secured there sixth win of the season by beating Kirkop Utd 3-0. The Magpies had to wait until the 25th minute to take the lead thanks to Darren Galea who concluded a fine cross from Manuel Muscat. Just before the break Alan Zahra’s personal effort gave Rabat a two goal lead. In the second half Jonathan Bezzina secured the three points thanks to a great run from Rabat’s left back to score his second goal of the season. The Magpies will now meet Sirens in two weeks time.

10th January 2006

The Magpies return to action next Sunday against Kirkop Utd in there bid to gain Promotion. Rabat currently lie second to St. Venera who last week won 5-0 against Zejtun C. Kirkop Utd haven't had to best start as they currently lie 15th with just 4 points from 7 matches. Joe Gerada is expected to have all his players for disposal as no injuries or suspensions are to effect the Rabat mentor to field the best team possible.

3rd January 2006

Rabat played another friendly this time against First Division side Lija Athletics. Rabat were in full strength although Coach Gerada made some changes from the first team. Gwyn Vassallo was preferred to Joseph Caruana and Neil Caruana started instead of Falzon. Lija opened the score in the first 20 mins but Kayne Said equalized just before the break. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Rabat played there last match of the year 2005. This time Rabat played 2nd Division side Attard FC in a friendly match played in the Imtarfa Ground. Attard won 2-1. Kayne Said was the scorer for the Magpies. Formation: Azzopardi J (Deguara E, Micallef A), Borg C, Borg A, Bonavia M, Abela P, Lanzon A, Grima L, Vassallo G, Galea D, Falzon P, Said K.

13th December 05

Rabat won there fifth game of the season thanks to a 2-0 win over third placed Siggiewi. Adam Smeir and Manuel Muscat were the Rabat scorers. The only change in the team was the introduction of striker Kayne Said who started instead of Darren Galea. Rabat will now meet Kirkop Utd in January. 4th December 05

Rabat continued there bid for promotion with another three points against Ta'Xbiex. Third Division Top Scorer Adam Smeir was the highlight once again for Rabat as he scored all three goals. Rabat will now meet Siggiewi which will not be an easy task for the Magpies.

Rabat Ajax's striker Chris Muscat will be missing Rabat's next match against Xghajra T. Muscat is expected to be back training next week.

12th November 05

The youth team, for the second consecutive time failed to take the three points in there bid to gain promotion to Section A. In fact last Saturday they drew 1-1 with Mellieha SC. Kayne Said scored from the penalty spot for Rabat. This was there fourteenth point of the season from eight matches and will be looking forward to meet Attard FC on the 8th December.

4th November 05

In there first direct clash of the season Rabat Ajax managed to grab a point thanks to a goal by Adam Smeir. Birzebbugia started of very well and infact they took the lead thanks to Alex Farrugia. After the lead, Rabat started to penetrade more the B'Bugia defence and infact Jonathan Bezzina missed by little to make the score level before half-time. In the second half, Rabat played much more better and Smeir scored a fine header thanks to a cross from left back Bezzina. Joe Gerada decided to go for the three points and opted Kayne Said in attack. Infact Rabat missed another three easy chances in the final minutes of the match. Now the Magpies occupy the fourth position with 8 points.
